Classes will start at 8:30am. We will begin by discussing how to raise meat birds. We will cover breed selection, housing, and feeding, and also try to answer any questions.
Next, we will demonstrate for the class how to process a chicken. We will show, step by step, how to humanely dispatch, scald, pluck, and eviscerate a chicken.
Class participants will be provided with 2 chickens to process. We will walk each one through the process on the first chicken, then allow everyone to do the second chicken on their own, answering questions as needed.
We will then take a break while the chickens cool to the appropriate temperature, then show how to package them in shrink wrap bags. Each person/couple will take home the two chickens which they processed (chickens and the use of all supplies are included in the class fee).
